Mainland China has delegated Assistant Minster of foreign Affairs, Jun to officially kick-start the newly established diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Zhai arrived in Malawi Friday through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe.
He told a battery of reporters at the airport that he is an envoy of China President Hu Jintao to present "a letter" to Malawi President Dr Bingu wa Mutharika and officially open the Chinese Embassy.
"China has established partnership with many countries under their concept of one China and principalities of peace and Malawi's acceptance of this is what has led to the new partnership," he said.
According to his itinerary, the Chinese minister will present his "letter" from Hu Jin Tao to President Mutharika, Saturday at New State House in Lilongwe.
He is scheduled to meet the Chinese business community in the country thereafter.
The China envoy will later open the Chinese Embassy at area 12 next to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Headquarters.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation Joyce Banda welcomed the envoy.
